COACH REQUIREMENTS FOR UPPER DIVISION REC TEAMS 2019

ADULT REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS 2019

This information is for AYSA Upper Division recreational teams only. If your team is traveling to a tournament during the season, you will need to complete the requirements on this page.

The following three things are required by the state of Minnesota for all soccer adult participation:

  1. MYSA Background Check (valid through 12/31/2019)
  2. Concussion Training Certificate (valid for 3 years)
  3. NEW FOR 2019! Child Abuse Prevention Training (valid for 2019)

This includes all officials, coaches, team managers and administrators for clubs.

No adult will be allowed to coach until they have completed all the below requirements and both training certificates have been uploaded into their Affinity account.

If you run into any issues while completing these requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact the AYSA Office for more information or assistance.

Complete the following steps to be considered an approved coach for the 2019 soccer season:

  1. Approved MYSA Background Check (Time to Complete: 10 minutes)

Minnesota State Law and MYSA Policy require that all adults have an approved background check before they participate in any MYSA activity. Please follow the link below to complete your 2019 background check through the Affinity platform before your first interaction with your team: https://secure.sportsaffinity.com/reg/Public/registration/login.aspx?domain=minnesotayouthsoccer-bgc.sportsaffinity.com&language=english&sessionguid=

Hint: if you’ve coached previously, you will use the same Affinity account that you have used in the past to complete the background check. Can’t remember your username/password from last year? Contact AYSA.

  1. Concussion Training Certificate (Time to Complete: 30 minutes)

Minnesota State Law and MYSA Policy require that all adult participants complete the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s HEADS UP Concussion Training every three years. The training can be found on the CDC’s website here: https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html

Hint: In 2019, there is a new requirement to upload your certificate to your existing Affinity account. If you have completed the training in the last two years but do not have access to your certificate, you will have to re-complete the concussion training.

  1. NEW FOR 2019! Child Abuse Prevention Training (Time to Complete: 30 minutes)

If your team is an AYSA recreational team and will not participate in a spring/summer tournament, you can complete the Trusted Coaches Child Safety Training Course. This 30-minute training fulfills the requirement for the recreational coach that does not plan to coach a competitive or tournament team this year. 1. Uploading your Training Certificates (Time to Complete: 10 minutes)

Upon completion of each training, you will receive a certificate of completion that must be uploaded into your Affinity account for your club to validate. Save each certificate as a PDF or JPG directly from the training portals. Follow the steps below to upload your certificates to your account:

  1. Login to your Affinity account here: https://mnyouth.sportsaffinity.com/Foundation/Login.aspx?sessionguid= (Hint: this is the same account you created for the MYSA Background Check above)
  2. Go to your Certificates tab.
  3. Click on the appropriate box to upload your file.
  4. Click “Choose File” and choose the appropriate certificate to upload.
  5. Click on the green “Upload Image” button. The pop-up box will close and your certificate will replace the generic upload certificate picture that was previously in the box.

Again, no adult will be allowed to coach until they have completed all the above requirements and the concussion and child abuse prevention training certificates have been uploaded into their Affinity account.

Having difficulties completing any of the above requirements? Contact Julien Bratek at julien@arrowheadsoccer.com or call the AYSA Office at (218) 624-1713 and a staff member should be able to assist you.
