DVSE is the Duluth-Vaxjo Soccer Exchange program. It is an experience of a lifetime and has a 20 year history. This program allows area high school aged competitive soccer players (14-16 years old, determined by birth year) the opportunity to experience a cultural and sports exchange with Duluth’s sister city in Vaxjo, Sweden. This program requires a two year commitment on behalf of the players, coaches and managers. During the travel year, which is the coming summer of 2019, our group travels to Vaxjo for 14/15 days at the end of June through the first part of July.

Players stay with a Swedish host family and experience the culture, heritage and traditions of Sweden. During that time in Sweden, the Swedish team hosts a soccer tournament which is set up for team play. During the host year (2020), the Swedish team player will visit the city of Duluth, MN and stay with their Duluth team member. A chance to renew a friendship occurs as the Swedish team players learn American culture and traditions.

Currently, we have spots available (first come first serve) on the U15 roster for both boys and girls. (Birth year 2004) We do have one or two openings on the U15 roster for boys and girls as well, this would be birth year 2003. Monthly meetings are beginning in September, and we expect to be at full rosters by September 31st, 2018.

Players can expect to pay between $1200-$1800 during a travel year (plus passport if needed, and spending money) and about $500-700 for a host year. Expenses for a travel year include airfare to Sweden, player warm-ups, uniforms, practices and field time. Expenses for a host year include team socials, banquets, practices and field time. Numerous fundraising opportunities are available once you are accepted into the program to  defray costs.

Please enroll by using the application on www.SisterCitySoccer.org. The form should be completed and returned with your $100 deposit/application fee as soon as possible for the best chance of acceptance.
