Thinking of becoming a referee?  

If you are under 13 years of age, we recommend you begin reffing in the Fall Lower Division program. (If this is you, please scroll down this page to the section titled "TRAINING FOR NEW REFEREES FOR FALL/LOWER DIVISION".  You will find details and special instructions about training opportunities for our younger referees).
If you are 14 years or older, and plan to start reffing in the Spring-Summer Upper Division, from May-July, you need to follow the USSF Grade 8 certification track, and complete all Grade 8 training requirements detailed below. 

If you are 14 or older...

 Upper Division referees are required to register with the USSF and pay a registration fee to become USSF certified.  The training course for a Grade 8 referee includes, self-paced online courses, 8 hrs of classroom instruction, and participation in our local pre-season on-field training.  Clinic dates and details are listed below. 
Spring Clinics for Grade 8 Referees who plan to work during our
Upper Division Season (games May thru July)
This is training for both first-time referees AND also referees who worked during our 2014 Fall Season.

New referees, and returning 1st year referees who began refereeing in August 2014 will need to attend a Grade 8 course, become USSF certified and pay the USSF registration fee in order to referee in the 2015 Spring-Summer season.

The training program includes: 1) an online component, (which includes viewing a required concussion training video); 2) 8 hrs of classroom instruction; and 3) participation in our local pre-season on-field training. Students must finish all components and pass a 100-question test to complete certification.  There are four classroom date options for persons wanting to become USSF Grade 8 referees.

Referees must register with the USSF and pay their registration fees online BEFORE they can start online instruction and sign up for their classroom session.

Classroom sessions for persons planning to certify as USSF Grade 8 for 2015:

Sunday, March 29  8:30AM – 5:00PM
 Tuesday, April 7  8:30AM – 5:00PM
(during school Spring Break)
 Saturday, April 18  8:30AM – 5:00PM

Students will receive clinic location information by email after completing pre-clinic requirements.

 ** On-field training dates and options will be sent to referees who are officially registered.

Please register early because clinic space is limited.  When maximum room capacity is reached, registrations must be closed.  Clinic locations and final class details will be sent to new referees by email after online registration and clinic sign-ups are completed.
